How to use JustStockTrades.com

1. Overview: What You Can See

Our website provides clear, timely visibility of the trades placed in our investment accounts. Subscribers can see every order, our current positions, and review the complete trading history. This information is presented in an easy-to-follow format so you can understand exactly what actions are taken in each account type.

You will be able to see:

  • All stock orders and the percentage allocated to a given trade
  • Current holdings
  • Full historical records of every trade
  • Performance of each account type vs. S&P 500

This transparency allows you to follow our trades as they occur and monitor how the overall trading impacts our accounts over time.

2. Account Types and Access Levels

We trade in 3 distinct investment accounts, each with its own approach and activity level specific to the account type:

  • Qualified Retirement (401k) – Long-term, index-based positions, long only
  • IRA – Mid-term, sector-rotation positions, long and short
  • Margin Brokerage – Shorter-term, individual-stock positions, long and short

Each account has its own dashboard so users can follow activity at the desired level of detail.

Qualified Retirement (401k) Dashboard (Free Access)

Access to the qualified retirement (401k) dashboard is available to all users who sign in and create an account. The qualified retirement (401k) dashboard includes full order visibility, current positions, and our complete trading history. The trading approach in the qualified retirement account is to hold index-based funds in the leading indexes during a market uptrend. Since 401k accounts typically use a limited set of mutual funds, the positions are specified using the most common Index ETFs (DIA, SPY, QQQ, MDY, IWM, etc.) as proxies. Trading frequency is relatively low.

IRA Dashboard (Subscriber Access)

Access to the IRA dashboard is available to all users who sign in, create an account and purchase a subscription. Like the Qualified Retirement dashboard, the IRA dashboard includes full order visibility, current positions, and our complete trading history. It provides a clear view of mid-term sector ETF-based holdings and their performance over time. Trading frequency is moderate.

Margin Brokerage Dashboard (Subscriber Access)

Access to the Margin Brokerage dashboard is available to all users who sign in, create an account and purchase a subscription. This dashboard shows the latest orders, active positions, and closed positions for the margin brokerage account. It provides a clear view of shorter-term individual stock holdings and their performance over time. Trading frequency is relatively high compared to the other 2 accounts.

3. Dashboard Contents

Each dashboard is organized into three main tables that provide a complete view of current activity and past results. These tables are updated daily to reflect all new trades and changes in open positions.

Latest Order Table

This table displays all new trades as well as their stop-loss price. It provides the most recent order activity for the account, including Stock Symbol, Position, Action, % of Account, and Order Time. Users may optionally opt in to receive email alerts when this table is updated.

Current Open Positions Table

This table shows all positions that are currently open in the account. It includes the ticker symbol, entry price and other relevant position details.

Closed Positions Table

This table lists all the closed positions (i.e. the trade history). It includes entry and exit dates and prices and the gain/loss for each trade.

Performance

In addition, each dashboard has a show stats drop down window that reflects the performance of the account since inception. For comparison, we show the S&P 500 performance over the same period.

4. Methodology

The position selection approach used can be viewed as a Top-Down "Market Level → Sector Level → Industry/Stock Level" hierarchy described below.

Market Trend (Top Level)

  • The Qualified Retirement Account aligns with the overall market trend.
  • It uses broad index ETFs to participate in long-term uptrends.
  • Trading frequency is low and focused on major market direction.
  • The IRA Account aligns with sector-level trends within the broader market environment.
  • It rotates among sector ETFs showing relative strength or weakness.
  • It seeks opportunities in both rising (ETFs) and falling markets (Inverse ETFs).
  • The Margin Brokerage Account aligns with industry-level and individual stock trends.
  • It targets leading or lagging industries and the strongest or weakest stocks within them.
  • Like the IRA, it seeks to profit in both uptrends and downtrends.

In all three accounts, when no trend is apparent, the account is biased heavily (or completely) in cash. We do not forecast markets or provide commentary; we simply show the trades we place and the resulting positions.

Getting Started

  1. Start by exploring the Qualified Retirement dashboard by clicking the "Explore our 401k dashboard" button. This will walk the user through account creation and give him access to our 401k dashboard. This gives new users a real example of our dashboard experience and provides representation of what to expect in the subscription-based dashboards.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the dashboard functionality. Read the explanatory documentation on the 401k page to understand what's what.
  3. Based on the type of accounts you want to trade in, decide if you want access to IRA and Margin Brokerage dashboards.
  4. If you want access to the subscription sites, feel free to take advantage of our risk-free offer to subscribe. Subscriptions are free for the first 30 days, and you can cancel at any time.

5. What's Out of Scope

This platform is designed to provide transparent access to actual trades in actual accounts. It is not intended to function as a comprehensive financial resource, and there are several services users should not expect:

  • It is not an educational website.
  • It is not a discussion or community forum.
  • It does not provide analysis of the market, sectors, or individual stocks.
  • It does not offer personalized financial advice or guidance.
  • It does not support market, sector, or stock Q&A.
